When trying to install the.NET Framework version 4.7.2, it gets stuck on the installation and freezes here: I waited for over an hour for the.NET Framework to install, and it stayed at the same spot. I attempted to cancel the installation, and it's stuck on rolling back the installation as well. Phil_s : Thanks for the spell check. For the error from what I can tell on this there might be some corruption in base counter settings. If you check under %SystemRoot%System32 you might find some files perfstringbackup.ini . These are taken as snapshots when counters are added to the system. You can try the following but note this may break current counters since this will reset to a prior period.
lodctr /R:perfstringbackup.ini
delia_mad420 : The Status 5 in your case indicates an access denied . Try 'Run as Administrator' when opening the command prompt. If that does not work you can try using Process Monitor to log events while you test this.
